haha this is amazing
so, when the iphone first came out, some a-hole decided to make an iphone app called "i am rich". it sells for $999 (the max apple allows people to charge for an app) and all it does is have a glowing red gem that moves around. it literally does nothing.
8 people bought it within the first 24 hours of the app store being open.

I think it was just Madonna buying the application 8 times for her 8 different iPhones.
