being 28 is awesome!

so my birthday was great. totally calm and nice and exactly what i'd hoped for.

work was nice and relatively calm. i actually left at 5:30, which if you've heard me bitch and complain at all in the past months, you'll know that's a BIG DEAL.

i got a number of really cool birthday surprises, that i was very very happy about.

first off, i found some money deposited in my checking account from mom. always amazing.

then kenny got me a hot new flux rad t-shirt that i've been eyeing for months, along with a 12 pack of diet pepsis, which anyone can tell you is the key to my heart.

marisa got me a new book to read on my upcoming trip, which should help pass the hours of air travel in my future. she also got me a ulysses s. grant finger puppet. civil war birthday gifts are truly the best gifts.

mari took me completely by surprise with the most amazing workday surprise i've ever received. a florist arrived to the office to bring me THIS BEAUTY:



it's a fucking bouquet beer mug.. with FLOWERS FOR FOAM. seriously, i laughed so hard. i loved it. brilliant.

after work, me and the roommates headed to chipotle for birthday burritos. they were delicious as expected. afterwards, we headed to the mall to help me figure out some new business casual shit to buy for my trip on sunday. i left with a new shirt and a new business-y belt to fit my thinner waistline. i still need some new shoes, but by and large, i think i'll be able to wing this whole business casual thing.

the struggle, ultimately, is making business casual cool.. which is almost impossible, but i think i've at least brought myself a little closer.

anyway, the whole thing was hilarious. three grown ass dudes, walking around macy's together looking at belts, slacks, and polo shirts. when i nicknamed the new apartment "grown up house", i wasn't kidding around.

anyway, tonight we party in earnest. i'm sure there will be pictures surfacing on the internet somewhere.
