if only my roommates weren't allergic. i need to get in on the ground level.

Like I said before, you have self esteem issues due to the fact you can't "compete" with dogs & therefore revert to cat ownership. I'll find a good therapist for you soon.

Guys who hate cats and / or love dogs can be expected to have the same mentality towards women as they do towards their dogs... that they should be relentlessly loyal and forgiving... they should sit around sadly waiting for you... and can only have fun when you're around or take them out.
A guy who's into cats is secure enough to handle that the cat isn't going to always show affection; that it will have its sassier moments, and it will have its moments where it is all about you... but it's unpredictable. Affection has to be earned, not expected.
A dude who can embrace that in a pet can embrace that in a woman... or in the absence of a woman, if she's having a sassier moment. Haha.
You can tell a lot about a man by the way he talks about or treats his mother, and whether he prefers cats or dogs.
So true. And for the record, I usually find it incredibly attractive when a guy has a housecat that he loves.
