"I guess I thought I was making the "mature" choice that would be better for my future, but I feel like I'm spiraling into a colorless, somnambulist life. I didn't sell out, but I sure as hell bought in."

Sleepwalking is dangerous. Be careful.
I read that and it reads much like the voice of a dude who like... just left for NY this week from here.
Also... you in 3-5 years = not scary. Really. What's so bad about facing challenges and exiting the comfort zone of a wheel of bars and dead-end jobs that for so many men, Richmond is? I mean, you're still here and you're not on that wheel.
How is doing that in a bigger city surrounded by overwhelming masses of other motivated, hard-working individuals going to affect you in comparison? Probably more positively.
Being on or staying on that wheel in Richmond 3-5 years from now... that's what would be considered scary.
I realize that post could be written by a woman but a woman wouldn't put things in terms of potentially becoming "douchier."
Anyway. In tipping my hat to a large Peter Pan hub, here's an interesting article that for some reason came to mind as I was responding.

And wow man. You really blogged it out today. I didn't scroll down far enough initially to realize the extent of your damages for the day.
