cubicle life.

i know the title of this thread may leave a bad taste in your mouth, but i promise.. it's a good thing.

at my old agency, our headquarters was a bit of a graveyard. years earlier, the hub of activity at the agency sorta shifted from richmond to dallas, so what was once a bustling headquarters pretty much just housed our finance department and the senior officers. the rest of us were just the few people left who still lived in virginia. due to the sheer lack of numbers, you pretty much had your pick of wherever you wanted to work. there were more empty desks than filled ones.

that said, due to those circumstances, i got my very own office. and the fact is, it was way earlier than i actually deserved one in my career. but because there weren't really that many people in the richmond office, the desire to take my office and make it "my own" really wasn't there. most of the people i worked with were in other places around the country, so who's going to know, right?

well, at the new agency... they actually just moved our entire department to a new area, so everyone's in cubicles and everyone is working closely together. a whole new thing for me. it's cool because it's very open and collaborative, and it's very easy for me to ask questions. it's not like your typical stereotypical cubicle situation. this one is pretty awesome.

since it IS an ad agency, everyone tends to express their personality through their cubicle, so now i'm kinda racking my brain for how exactly i want to personalize my work space. how do i express my interests without coming across as a total nerd?

such dilemmas plague my mind.

i have found a few things that i'm excited to bring in to work.

however, what i'm MOST excited about is an idea that was partially inspired by marisa.

i'm going to post up COURAGE WOLF on my cubicle. and maybe do a "courage wolf of the week". think of the office inspiration i could create!

i will need to start implementing this tomorrow.

on a related note, for those of you wondering, the first day was awesome. lots of orientations and paperwork to fill out, so that wasn't exactly thrilling, but i have a really good feeling about these people and the agency in general. i think it's going to be really awesome.

here goes day #2!
