one thing is clear. trent reznor is a fucking smart dude. and it's really awesome to hear him talk about the music industry and how to market and make music in the current climate. the dude clearly GETS it.
i've been making music and working in the industry in some capacity for almost eight years now. as i'm about to take this next step by creating this record label, i am fully realizing that it's a whole new world out there and the music business has no idea what it's doing. it's going to take a lot of people thinking like trent reznor to actually make things work from here on out. i think we could all learn a thing or two.
anyway, it's a 40 minute interview. i have no illusions about the odds of any of you watching the whole thing, but give the first 5 minutes or so a chance. dude has some really interesting things to say.
plus, it's fun to see reznor as like a late-30s early-40s hip technology guy and not the dark scary brooding guy who wants to fuck you like an animal.
