thank you creative people

months ago when i was going through my "what am i doing with my life now" panic attack following my departure from olympia, i did a lot of thinking about what i wanted out of my life and the city that i lived in and the people i spent my time with.

one of the most important things was wanting to give myself opportunities to be creative and surround myself with like-minded people who were also creating and being innovative. it's so easy to be inspired when the people around you are the ones inspiring you.

i've noticed somewhat recently that a lot of my friends and acquaintances are starting new ventures, being creative, and doing really cool things. it's really inspired me lately to pursue some of my ideas more seriously and start being creative myself.

here are just a smattering of my creative friends and their exciting projects:

kenny's clothing line flux rad and his new DJ venture 240 minutes.

tess's always midnight and holly's holly rae online handmade/vintage etsy stores.

alex's new vintage endeavor junkyard angels is just now getting started as well.

courtney and lauren have begun their first projects for their interior design business kelly and olive.

these are just a few. there are others playing and writing music, taking photographs, making art. if i listed everyone, we'd be here all night.

so i'm gonna put this on the blog to make it official. in 2009, i have four creative goals that i need to get off the ground.

1) continue to participate in 240 minutes and DJing in general

2) start a musical project of some kind - whether solo or with a band - it's already been too long since leaving olympia and i miss having that creative outlet.

3) okay this might be a little complicated for a quick summary - but i want to start a record label. something very small, for projects of friends and musicians i admire. i have such a passion for music and the business side of things. i would love to be able to have an outlet to promote the creativity of my friends and fellow musicians. it would purely be a venture for fun and with the intention of simply breaking even.

4) continue blogging and explore other possible outlets for writing

there it is. it's on the blog now so there's no taking it back. let's get creative, y'all!
