morrissey: the musical

tonight katie, bill, and i watched "i love you, man". katie, sorry i forgot your phone charger. the movie was pretty funny. paul rudd rarely disappoints.

on the drive home, bill and i started talking about writing a broadway musical based around morrissey/smiths songs.

i think between bill and myself, and our nerdy love for broadway musicals, we could write a pretty kickass morrissey musical. we started talking about who would choreograph, design the sets, etc. etc.

then i got home and found out that there is a morrissey musical already in the works.

at first, i was filled with sadness. but then i saw who was writing it.. none other than thomas lennon, formerly of the state and currently of reno 911. my hope was restored. if i wasn't going to write the world's first morrissey musical, at least it would be someone awesome.

Ah, what a nice dream-come-true!

I think I once blogged about hoping for a Cursive musical... based on The Ugly Organ album... but today as I was driving listening to The Good Life, I was thinking maybe Album of the Year would make a great musical as well. Tim Kasher owns my heart. I have little faith in my ability to create one but I would hope someone else with the know-how does it.

Sometimes I think I'm the only one in the world that remembers the awesomeness of The State :)
