design inspiration!

so, my amazing friend courtney just sent me an initial peek at her new website for her interior design business. i'm always so inspired by my friends who are starting new ventures - whether those are artistic, entrepreneurial, musical, or otherwise. seeing my friends push themselves to make awesome things happen.. it makes me want to do the same. hopefully 2009 will see some new and exciting things from me, but in the meantime, i am happy to celebrate the successes of those around me.

this weekend i went to a house party and saw a really great decorating job in the bathroom. i thought, wow, these people have got it figured out. i'll need to share this on my blog as an example!



as you can see, the occupants of this apartment have really gone above and beyond to create a specific "atmosphere". the combination of romantic candles, the ample supply of toilet paper, and the darth vader helmet all come together to create a real sense of "home".

and of course, the piece that brings the whole room together is the "princess leia in the golden bikini" poster.

it says "hey, we're classy.. and we like sci-fi.. and we're dudes.."



it follows one of my core design principles - "when in doubt, princess leia."

kudos to these apartment dwellers for really going above and beyond and taking their bathroom experience to the next level.
